Creative businesses share insights
Our creative director (and current Chair of the West of England Design Forum) Bob Mytton was one of the six panelists at the Creative Bath discussion last week (20.10.09) discussing strategies for coping with the current economic downturn. The other guests were Sam Holliday, Editor of the Bath Chronicle (you can read his comments about this session at samholliday.blogspot.com); Malcolm Brinkworth of Touch Productions, Mike Ellis of Eduserv; John Weir of Future publishing and Richard Daws of Komedia. The chair was Greg Ingham of MediaClash. The Ustinov Theatre was full for this timely event as many of those present had faced challenges during the past year – but the overall mood was one of optimism.
Some of Bob’s top tips include:
- keep doing great work
- think long term
- keep in touch / keep building relationships
- do not undersell yourself
- keep a close eye on cash and profits
- help your teams stay motivated
